Chairholder since 2006
During the first term of the NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering (Quebec Region), the Chair carried out numerous initiatives in partnership with Industrial Alliance: 12 research projects, two publications for international conferences, and several projects to raise awareness of science and engineering among young women in secondary schools, colleges, and universities. (Titles of these projects included “Les filles et la science, un duo électrisant”, “Future ingénieure?”, and “Science, on tourne!” in 2011 and “Excelle Science”.) The Chair’s activities also include organizing and participating in regional, national, and international conferences. The current chairholder is Professor Nadia Ghazzali, President of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR).
For the Chair’s next term, it will have the Fondation de l’UQTR as a partner. The Chair’s team will work closely with Quebec’s science and engineering community and Quebec universities to continue to carry out research and awareness campaigns and meet its regional, national, and international commitments under the mandate defined by NSERC, which is to increase the participation of women in science and engineering. More specifically, the Chair’s objectives are to:
