The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, and the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology) (Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario), joined Suzanne Fortier, President, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) on October 19, 2009, in recognizing successful partnerships between universities and industry that have led to important innovations and discoveries. NSERC’s 2009 Synergy Awards for Innovation and NSERC’s 2009 Innovation Challenge Awards recognized partnerships that enable companies and researchers to position themselves as leaders in their fields both nationally and internationally.
