NSERC launches three significant research projects between Manitoba Hydro and the University of Manitoba

On May 7, 2015, NSERC President, Dr. B. Mario Pinto, launched three significant research projects between Manitoba Hydro and the University of Manitoba. NSERC will invest $6.5 million in support. Manitoba Hydro and other industrial partners are contributing $6.8 million. Dr. Shawn Clark was named NSERC Manitoba Hydro Industrial Research Chair in River Ice Engineering and Dr. Gary Anderson the NSERC Manitoba Hydro Industrial Research Chair in Conservation Aquaculture of Lake Sturgeon. Dr. David Barber who is a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Arctic-System Science also received a Collaborative Research and Development Grant. Hydroelectric energy production is one of the largest industries in Manitoba, and these projects will strengthen hydro-electric energy research in the province.
