Canada to host international funding agencies meeting in 2017

It is a great privilege to announce that Canada has been selected to host the 6th Annual Meeting of the Global Research Council (GRC). The event will be held in Ottawa from May 29th to 31st, 2017, co-organized by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica of Peru (This link will take you to another Web site CONCYTEC), and in partnership with Canada’s International Development Research Centre (This link will take you to another Web site IDRC).

The official announcement was made by Dr. B. Mario Pinto, President of NSERC and Dr. Gisella Orjeda, President of CONCYTEC on May 27, 2016, during the most recent assembly of the GRC in New Delhi, India.

Discussions at the Ottawa meeting will centre on themes including capacity building and connectivity among granting agencies worldwide, as well as the dynamic interplay between fundamental research and innovation. Coinciding with Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations, the Annual Meeting provides a tremendous opportunity to showcase cutting-edge research accomplishments. The meeting will also contribute to leverage the expertise and diversity of the world’s funding agencies to serve as a conduit for strengthened capacity throughout the global research enterprise.

  • This link will take you to another Web site IDRC, a Canadian Crown Corporation, will provide its expertise in investing in knowledge, innovation, and solutions for improving lives in developing countries. IDRC has collaborated with research funding organizations in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean in the development of core capabilities and analysis competencies to inform their granting operations.
