Eddy Campbell holds two degrees from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a PhD from the University of Toronto. He held a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario.
Dr. Campbell is the 18th President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of New Brunswick. Appointed to a five-year term, Dr. Campbell led the university through a strategic planning process, building on its rich tradition of learning, discovery and community engagement. Dr. Campbell has extensive experience in university administration, having served as President and Vice-Chancellor (Acting) and Vice-President (Academic) at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John. He also served as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science and as Professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
Dr. Campbell's main research interest is the invariant theory of finite groups and he continues to maintain an active research career. A past president of the Canadian Mathematical Society, Dr. Campbell is currently a member of the executive and investment committees of the Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems network (MITACS), a national centre of excellence.
Dr. Campbell has served in a variety of capacities with NSERC and currently sits on the Executive Committee and the Committee on Research Integrity. He is assisting with the development of a long-range plan for the mathematical and statistical sciences.
