Mr. Tice is a serving corporate director with experience in the public and private sectors, and with large and small reporting issuers, from less than $50 million to more than $1 billion in annual revenues. He is presently a director of Ottawa-based NAV CANADA, the second largest air navigation system in the world and the global leader in air traffic safety, where he is a member of the Audit and Pension committees, and the lead director overseeing the transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Previous directorships include Educators Financial Group of Toronto, a mutual fund, where he was a member of the Audit and Governance committees, and Bay Area Health Trust of Hamilton, a joint venture, where he served as Chair of the Audit Committee.
In the corporate world, Mr. Tice’s twenty-year executive career as a professional accountant and Chief Financial Officer is distinguished for his record of success with financially distressed and critically challenged organizations in a variety of industries, including TradePort International (aviation), Carstar Automotive (automotive), GA Love Foods (retail and wholesale distribution) and Linotype Canada (hi-tech equipment). Board service and corporate governance now occupy his full attention.
Mr. Tice is a graduate of the inaugural 2005 class of the Directors College, and he has served on the faculty of the college since 2006, moderating a global business case and lecturing in financial literacy. He also works in conjunction with other graduates and faculty to deliver essential governance training on a volunteer basis to various not-for-profit agencies. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Mr. Tice graduated from McMaster University with undergraduate (1976) and graduate (1980) degrees in Geography, with interests in the effects of large-scale resource projects on regional economic development in the Canadian Arctic and Latin America. He has direct on-site experience in remote sub-Arctic and High Arctic research, and he maintains a special fondness for Canada "North of 60". Paul is a Certified Management Accountant and a member of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
