Acknowledging NSERC support

Federal support for research is an investment by the people of Canada.

By demonstrating the social, economic and cultural value of their natural sciences and engineering research, NSERC award recipients help strengthen public understanding of and support for NSERC-funded research.

We ask that you acknowledge, verbally and/or in writing, your NSERC funding and the role it has played in your research, in the following contexts:

  • media interviews, speeches, and presentations at conferences and workshops;
  • conference or workshop materials, promotional and web materials, press releases, social media campaigns and other media materials;
  • research profiles, publications, equipment or facilities,
  • submissions to peer-reviewed publications, citing the name of the funding opportunity.

How to acknowledge your NSERC funding

Whether acknowledging NSERC verbally or in writing, you must make it clear that your research project was supported by NSERC and is not a product of NSERC. In written formats, you are required to use the NSERC logo or symbol in conjunction with a statement acknowledging the NSERC program supporting your research. We recommend using a bilingual statement even if your publication is unilingual.
