NSERC is partnering with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) in this funding opportunity to support knowledge syntheses on the environment. The environment is a multi-faceted topic that calls for contributions from across the many disciplines of Canada’s research community.
This program will provide up to $100,000 to support multi-disciplinary research initiatives designed to address important scientific and scholarly opportunities and problems related to the environment. Projects will draw on and synthesize existing research results and scholarship to respond to knowledge gaps identified by a variety of stakeholders involved in improving the environment.
The three partner agencies will support syntheses on complex interactions between the environment and one or more other sectors – particularly health, energy and natural resources, and information and communications technology. Where possible, syntheses should address social, economic and cultural aspects, including governance and policy issues.
All applicants will be required to partner with a knowledge user organization or identified stakeholder that has a direct interest in, or need for, synthesized research knowledge.
A separate pool has been created to fund up to ten syntheses under this initiative, which is being administered by CIHR through its Synthesis Grant: Knowledge Translation program. For more information, Consult the
complete program description.
