Supplements for NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship Holders

An agreement covering scientific co-operation between NSERC and the Royal Society of London was signed in May 1998. As a result of this agreement, NSERC will be awarding, on a competitive basis, up to 10 supplements of $5,000 per year for two years, to successful applicants to its postdoctoral fellowships competition who have specified a location of tenure for the award in the U.K.

What is the purpose of the supplement?

These awards are intended to:

• encourage joint United Kingdom-Canadian research efforts; and
• facilitate the movement of research scientists and engineers between the two countries.

Are you eligible to hold a supplement?

To hold this supplement, you must:

• be awarded an NSERC PDF; and
• take up the award in the U.K.

It is expected that applicants will have established contact with a U.K. research establishment and have agreed on a tentative research plan at the time of application.

What kind of support do these supplements provide?

Up to 10 awards of $5,000 per year for two years will be made to successful applicants who take up their award in the U.K. The funds are to be used by the recipients to offset relocation costs and living expenses.

How do you apply?

All applicants to the PDF competition who indicate a location of tenure in the U.K. will be considered for the supplements. NSERC will identify the winners based on the review by its scholarships and fellowships selection committees. Thesesupplements will be awarded on a first come, first served basis as PDFs are accepted for tenure in the U.K.

Notification of decision

NSERC will notify recipients of these supplements after they have taken up their awards.
