Government of Canada provides additional funding for applied R&D collaborations between colleges and businesses

A special call from Federal Budget 2021 to support more applied research partnerships through the College and Community Innovation program

General news

August 3, 2021

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Applied Research and Technology Partnership (ARTP) grants, available thanks to support from the 2021 Federal Budget, which provided an additional $46.9 million over two years to the College and Community Innovation (CCI) program, managed by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

These grants will allow colleges, CEGEPs and polytechnics across the country to help Canadian small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seize new opportunities by applying innovative research and technologies or developing them into useful new products and services.

As a result, this real-world innovation and technical development will help these businesses grow and become more competitive. The ARTP grants will also help to train students in leading-edge skills essential for the future competitiveness of companies.

Webinars presenting an overview of the ARTP funding opportunity and application requirements will be offered on the following dates:
