National Science Foundation Global Centres to tackle climate change and clean energy challenges

NSERC is pleased to announce that five Canadian research teams have recently been selected to work with international partners to address research challenges related to climate change and clean energy as part of the National Science Foundation Global Centres initiative.

This joint initiative between the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the US National Science Foundation (NSF), Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) encourages and supports international collaborative research on climate change and clean energy.

The international research centres being funded under this initiative provide unique opportunities for increased scope, scale, and flexibility and advance innovative, interdisciplinary, use-inspired research and education to address these complex and important societal priorities.
