She is a certified member of the professional orders of chemists and administrators of Quebec and works as an advisor on applied scientific research at the Office for Research, Development and Knowledge Translation at the Université de Montréal. This office helps to advance and disseminate research both within and outside the university. It assists researchers by advising them from the very start of their projects and by supporting them in securing funding, administering grants and translating the knowledge produced by their research. Dr. Daghrir manages partnership contracts and administers research with the partners concerned. Before joining the Université de Montréal, she was a researcher at the Centre des technologies de l’eau and a lecturer at the Cégep de Saint-Laurent.

Dr. Daghrir has over 16 years of experience in project management, research administration and teaching. She has helped to design and develop environmental electrotechnologies at the Centre des technologies de l’eau and to establish numerous partnerships with companies from Quebec and elsewhere in Canada. She is the author of many scientific articles, book chapters and technical reports, has presented papers at regional, national and international scientific conferences, has been awarded NSERC Connect grants and has participated in research funded by Applied Research and Development grants from NSERC’s College and Community Innovation program.

Dr. Daghrir heads the Uses of Water research component and sits on the Scientific Committee and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee of CentrEau, Quebec’s largest group of researchers specializing in water management, based at Université Laval. With her extensive knowledge of the industry and experience in working in partnerships, collaborations and networks, she is recognized for her involvement in both the scientific and the business communities of Quebec and Canada. She is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Caisse Desjardins de Bordeaux–Cartierville–Saint–Laurent and a member of the Board of Directors of the Ordre des chimistes du Québec. She served on the Board of Directors of the INRS from 2018 to 2023 and chaired its Governance and Ethics Committee.

Dr. Daghrir has also served on various technical committees and academic award selection committees. Known for her rigour, her commitment, and her skill in interpersonal relationships, she is considered an ambassador for science and innovation in Quebec and Canada. In this regard, she plays an active role in many awareness and outreach activities, such as ADICQ Day (sponsored by the Association for the Development and Innovation of Chemistry in Quebec), the Innovation Awards Ceremony of the Association of Industrial Research Directors of Quebec, and the networking days organized by Water for People, as well as in activities to attract young people to the sciences, such as Hydro-Québec’s Expo-Sciences days and the University Women’s Club of Montreal.

Dr. Daghrir has received several awards for academic excellence, including the award for best doctoral thesis from the INRS Eau Terre Environnement Research Centre and, on two occasions, the excellence scholarship from the Tunisian government.
