Council of Canadian Academies: Powering Discovery report

In 2020, NSERC tasked the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) to conduct an assessment of international best practices and opportunities for funding natural sciences and engineering research.

Since NSERC was founded 40 years ago, new fields of research have emerged, interdisciplinary research and international collaboration have grown rapidly, and technological advances continue to reveal new avenues of inquiry. To examine leading practices and emerging trends in research funding, the CCA convened an international, high profile expert panel.
