Discovery Development Grants pilot program now made permanent

NSERC is pleased to announce that following the success of the pilot program for the Discovery Development Grants (DDG) from 2014 to 2019, this initiative will now be made permanent. This reflects NSERC’s commitment to support researchers at small universities. Based on feedback on the pilot, the following changes have been made to the program:
- The award amount was increased from $10K to $15K per year for 2 years for a total of $30K.
- Researchers are now allowed to hold two DDG awards over the duration of their career (instead of only one).
Going forward, NSERC will look for ways to further build on the success of the DDG program as the needs of the research community at smaller universities continue to evolve.
