The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Secteur Nature et technologies (FRQ) are pleased to announce the first Quebec team of chairholders as part of its Chairs for Inclusion in Science and Engineering (CISE) program. This initiative is built on the successful Chairs for Women in Science and Engineering (CWSE) program, continuing to promote the participation and retention of women in science and engineering while expanding to further address issues faced by a broader range of underrepresented groups.
The new CISE chairholders are Dr. Claire Brown a biophysicist at McGill University, Dr. Kulbir Ghuman a computational materials scientist at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique, and Dr. Marie-Eve Paquet a molecular and cellular biologist at Université Laval. They will work together to contribute to a culture of inclusion in the natural sciences and engineering, which is essential for creating a high-caliber research ecosystem that drives excellent, innovative, and impactful research.
The team will receive funding to include support for program initiatives and postdoctoral researchers to help chairholders advance their research in the natural sciences and engineering. Additional support for the Chairs will be provided through contributions from the host universities and the Chairs’ external partners.
NSERC would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Eve Langelier, the outgoing Quebec CWSE chairholder, for her dedication and excellent contributions over the past 10 years in this role.
Congratulations to all incoming chairholders!
