Visions of Science provides easy access to science education so that every child has a chance to explore and discover

Visions of Science is the only organization delivering programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) directly to low-income communities in Southern Ontario. Visions of Science’s unique model of community-based, volunteer-driven programs actively engages over 500 youth in 25 different communities.

NSERC PromoScience funding supports Visions of Science’s enrichment programs that bring STEM activities to children in grades 3 to 8. Their Community STEM Clubs (CSC) work within social housing communities to bring activities to youth who may not have many opportunities to experience hands-on STEM learning. Through the CSCs, youth explore a range of science topics such as renewable energy and the principles of electricity.

In 2017, Visions of Science launched STEM Community Leaders, an expansion of the CSC program that extends learning opportunities to youth in grades 8 to 12. Students in the STEM Community Leaders program experience immersive STEM learning, develop leadership skills and explore careers in science and research.

Since 2004, Visions of Science has reached more than 10,000 youth by working in collaboration with social housing partners such as Toronto Community Housing and Peel Housing Corporation.
