Program news Professors Students
December 19, 2023
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), in collaboration with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), is pleased to introduce the upcoming launch of the Lab to Market grants, a new tri-agency initiative designed to foster the development of entrepreneurship skills and commercialization capacity within networks in the academic community.
The Lab to Market grants initiative stems from the Government of Canada’s commitment in the 2022 Federal Budget to launch a new national program to help students and researchers take their work to market. The aim of this initiative is to equip researchers and highly qualified personnel with essential tools, resources, and knowledge to transform their academic research into innovations ready for the marketplace.
The Lab to Market grants will support Canadian post-secondary institutions and their affiliated organizations in creating and sustaining networks dedicated to the development and delivery of entrepreneurial skills training. This new initiative will provide stable, long-term funding and be open to all disciplines within the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities and health.
Approximate timeline:
- January 2024: Call for proposals launch
